Understanding Hair Transplant Surgery
People who are balding would benefit a lot through the surgical procedure of hair transplantation. Although there are many options for hair restoration, hair transplants have been a common choice for people today. It is a reality that men and women of today struggle with the problem of hair loss. If they want to restore their scalp back to their natural and growing state, then the best option is to undergo this surgical procedure.
What is being done in hair transplantation is to transfer hair from other parts of the body to the parts of the head where it is balding. If there is hair around the back and sides of the scalp, then these hairs are used for the transplant. The parts of the head is where these donor dominant hair grows. Donor dominant hairs grow on any balding area where it is transplanted. The follicular unit hair treatment is the most successful transplantation method. Compared to traditional hair transplant procedures, the follicular unit hair transplant is more superior. Because of the small incisions and accurate placements of hair follicles in this method, the result is hair that is thicker and closer together compared to what you get from the traditional hair transplant methods. In this method tissue is prepared and trimmed using high powered microscopes. With this equipment, surgeons are able to place more grafts per square inch. A highly trained and skilled restoration surgeon carefully harvests the hair follicles.
This is an outpatient procedure where the patient is given local anesthesia before surgery. The surgeon then removes follicles and hair growth in honor dominant parts of the body and divides them into individual grafts. These grafts are then inserted under the skin of the balding area of the head and are left them to grow new hair. It takes six to eight hours to insert grafts into the scalp and this procedure cannot be finished in one session, so there needs to be more visits until all the balding areas are covered. Depending on the extent of your baldness and you type of hair, the amount of grafts can be determined.
When the surgery is finished, you don’t expect to see results immediately. The transplanted hair will not stay but will also fall off. When you see this happen, do not be discouraged because this is just really an effect of the procedure. Hair fall will continue to happen until everything is gone but this is only due to the trauma experienced by the hair because of the transplant, but in a couple of months, the real hair will begin to grow from the transplanted follicles. Then your hair will grow normally and start to thicken in the coming months.
